Youtopia Visit

While raising money for the children of the Divine Onkar Mission this June at the Youtopia 5K Run and Fun, I knew that what I was doing was for a good cause. However, after driving one hour from Ranchi to Ramgarh and visiting the school and hospital, I was completely assured that all the hard work and dedication to the cause was worth it entirely. When we first arrived at the school, we received an extremely warm welcome by both the students and parents of the school. It was amazing to see how much the kids and their parents appreciated what we had done. It was very settling to see that the money that me and my three friends, Youtopia, had raised was really being applied and appreciated by everyone at the Divine Onkar Mission.

The site of the school and hospital—the facilities that the funds helped provide were impressive and clearly made for a place that the children could feel safe and inspired to try to achieve the best they can. One of the most memorable parts of the day was when I introduced myself to the children and got to hear from them. Many voiced their desire to become doctors, teachers, geographers, engineers, and more. It was evident by what they said that the opportunity to achieve their dreams and make their families proud was one of a lifetime. After hearing what our efforts meant to the kids, their parents, and their teachers, meeting the children and creating an emotional bond with them, and hearing about their aspirations made this journey one that will certainly motivate me to continue my efforts to provide the children of the Divine Onkar Mission with the opportunities that they deserve.
